Here you will find a continuously updated treasure trove of products that deliver natural wellness, effectiveness, convenience, flavor, chemical-free beauty, home and personal care. Some of the products are from the top recommendations in my book, Optimize Your Immune System: Create Health & Resilience with a Kitchen Pharmacy, but here you will also find additional categories and supplement options. More in-depth product explanations can be found in my book and blog
New items will be marked with new for the first 3 month’s that they appear on the list.
Things I look for: toxin-free (did you know that some tea bags are made of plastic?), fair-trade, worth the $, tasty, makes healthy cooking easy, organic, non-GMO, companies that test for contaminants, products that stand out from the competition, products that solve a problem, and small companies that do it better because that’s just who they are.
In order to provide pricing options, I sometimes include more than one listing for a supplement. The less costly options may contain fewer nutrients but are nonetheless good choices. Whenever possible, I also provide a variety of dosage strengths and formats such as capsule, syrup, drops and powder to meet individual preferences.
Safety Tip: Review all product labels to make sure they do not contain any ingredients that you have a sensitivity to. Even natural products can contain an ingredient that does not work with your personal biology. Supplements listed below are for adults, unless indicated otherwise. Consult the Disclaimer & Important Safety Notes below.
Enjoy!

Sweeteners
Would you like to enjoy sweet treats without the sugar guilt? Personally, I love using natural sugar and calorie free sweeteners for homemade cookies, brownies and other baked treats. The best way to achieve good flavor is to combine 1-2 of the calorie and sugar-free items below with regular sugar in your recipes. For example, if a recipe calls for 1 cup of sugar, use ½ cup of regular sugar and ½ cup of a sugar-free option. To further enhance the sweet flavor, you can also add one of the liquid sweeteners.
The dry maple sugar provides a great sweet maple flavor punch in a small amount.
SALT
There is a whole version of salt, often referred to as “sea salt.” Whole salt is unprocessed and contains the natural balance of minerals present in the water it was harvested from. Processed salt has 2 minerals. The amount of sodium in seal salt is in balance to the other minerals present in the salt. Authentic sea salt has up 85 minerals, which provide additional flavor and essential nourishment for the healthy functioning of your cells. It doesn’t contain any “anticlumping” agents commonly added to regular table (processed) salt. True sea salt is never white, which indicates that the essential minerals have been washed out. The products I love are grey and pink in color, indicating the presence of healthy sea minerals.
Discounted Healthy
Foods & Organic
Produce
I like to save money wherever possible. There are now many companies working towards providing home deliveries of discounted wholesome foods and produce. Thrive Market is an on-line retailer that has many options – sort of like a health food supermarket. For a small monthly fee you get access to deeply discounted organic brands from top companies. They often have new member promotions, such as a free gift with a value of up to $22. This is a shopping service I regularly use for my family.
The Misfits Market delivers organic fruits and vegetables right to your door at up to 40% less than grocery store prices. I use this service every other week to save on organic produce, including items that are not available at my local market. Sometimes the items are a little misshapen. Overall, the quality is excellent.

TEAS
Teas with a purpose are a flavorful way to increase your daily fluid intake. There are teas to promote a more restful sleep, for soothing sore throats, and for strengthening immunity – just to name a few. Just sipping a cup of warm tea can create a spa-like moment of calm. Go easy on the raw honey or use an alternative sweetener from the list above.

Immunity
Timing is everything when it comes to getting ahead of a virus. It’s a good idea to keep your kitchen pharmacy stocked with 2-3 supplements that strengthen your immune response. By having them on hand you will be able to take 1-2 as soon as you have been exposed to an unhealthy person or are starting to feel under the weather. This can help bring virus replication (which is what makes you eventually feel sick) to a halt.
Refer to my book, Optimize Your Immune System, for more specific information on my top immune supplement recommendations, the 3 phases of immune support, and what to take during each phase – plus immunity on a budget recommendations. Below, you will find some of the products recommended in my book plus a wider selection to choose from to meet a variety of needs. Choose 1-2 to take and follow label directions.
Elderberry is one of my favorite immune support supplements. It comes in many forms. Many of my students use it every day during the fall and winter. The syrup is a delicious topper for pancakes or stirred into yogurt. Gaia is a company that owns their own farms and makes excellent products. The Nature’s Way product is a great combination product for anyone who needs to get more of the important immune nutrients, vitamin C and zinc.
Vitamin D
In addition to strengthening your immune system, vitamin D is an essential nutrient for overall wellness. Its best to take vitamin D along with vitamins K1 and K2. These added nutrients make sure the increased calcium that’s absorbed as a result of taking vitamin D, will get ushered to the right place and not wind up in your arteries and joints where it can wreak havoc. Vitamin A in the second entry below provides extra barrier immune support.
If you regularly eat foods high in vitamin K1 and K2, you can get the less costly products that contain only vitamin D.
See my book for additional information on optimal D levels, testing and calculating the right dosage.
