Immunity
Timing is everything when it comes to getting ahead of a virus. It’s a good idea to keep your kitchen pharmacy stocked with 2-3 supplements that strengthen your immune response. By having them on hand you will be able to take 1-2 as soon as you have been exposed to an unhealthy person or are starting to feel under the weather. This can help bring virus replication (which is what makes you eventually feel sick) to a halt.
Refer to my book, Optimize Your Immune System, for more specific information on my top immune supplement recommendations, the 3 phases of immune support, and what to take during each phase – plus immunity on a budget recommendations. Below, you will find some of the products recommended in my book plus a wider selection to choose from to meet a variety of needs. Choose 1-2 to take and follow label directions.
Elderberry is one of my favorite immune support supplements. It comes in many forms. Many of my students use it every day during the fall and winter. The syrup is a delicious topper for pancakes or stirred into yogurt. Gaia is a company that owns their own farms and makes excellent products. The Nature’s Way product is a great combination product for anyone who needs to get more of the important immune nutrients, vitamin C and zinc.
Vitamin D
In addition to strengthening your immune system, vitamin D is an essential nutrient for overall wellness. Its best to take vitamin D along with vitamins K1 and K2. These added nutrients make sure the increased calcium that’s absorbed as a result of taking vitamin D, will get ushered to the right place and not wind up in your arteries and joints where it can wreak havoc. Vitamin A in the second entry below provides extra barrier immune support.
If you regularly eat foods high in vitamin K1 and K2, you can get the less costly products that contain only vitamin D.
See my book for additional information on optimal D levels, testing and calculating the right dosage.
